an eternal internal conflict

one

There is no excuse for ignorant self-indulgence
it is me that I see, and all I see is one
until the day when I notice one other
who also sees me… but also sees two…

And I realise that
the only regrets I have are not allowing
myself to love and be loved

He may see two, but by the time realisation hits,
he now sees two – elsewhere…
and again I am left as only one,
but,
wanting one more….

goodbye

She thinks she is rescuing herself,
but she is drowning…. a vain attempt to
stop herself from sinking in an
accumulation of buried emotional tripe….

Amazing how sometimes you don’t realise that
there is a world waiting for you, until it
slaps you in the face to say
goodbye…

come and go

One lonely secularised soul
the victim of her own actions
“I need time”

time to rest, recuperate, recover,
distance, isolate

“I need to return”
return to the hate, anguish, pain, loss,
dismay, ignorance, indifference,

“I need time…”

…and so the cycle continues…

THE HOLY GRAIL

the unknown self

the unseen self

the invisible self

the hegemonic self

the halcyon self

HAIL THE SELF

cold

the sun streaming in through the windows and hence through her eyes did not
‘warm her soul’ – it merely made her realise just how much of her
soul had grown cold.

departed

She can think of nothing but the sadness
       that doth lie there,
       and she doth cry there…

For the hope that once held her cradled
       hath departed,
and she is left with only her despair…

SHE

she dreams a little dream,
her spirits get crushed,
she gives up all hope,
she continues on with all else
regardless,
no passion
no anger
no hatred
no love
indifference
ignorance
independence
preservation

courage

The Miracle of life
the agony of life

The day to day passions
the day to day rippings

I was told that
to be loved deeply by someone
takes strength,

to love someone deeply
takes courage.

eye of newt
heart of ram
for the love of a man…
give me courage

PLAUSIBLE

PLAUSIBLE

or not so

fear racks my mind
dread fills my every thought
is it so or is it not so?

they seek him here they seek him there –

the wanting

the needing

the desire

the red the speed the need… .

The body

The Body
                 the twisting
                 contorting
                 naked body.

          A thing of beauty
                 underappreciated
                 undervalued.

A world of

imaginality

        Some re-create their physical appearance
Some create people to play with
        Some re-create their world
                       their being
                       their physicality
                       their personality
                       their geographicality

The act of re-creation
                       imagination

The dreams of a child lost in a world not her own.
is there really any difference
                                between
an imaginary friend
and
an imaginary life?

fabric

The light loose weave
of the fabric of life

the intricate, shifting,
the ebb and flow
of the threads of
experience
emotion
action
and ultimately,

of life itself.

oh child

BELIEVE

The truth of a child,
the memory of me.
The child’s fancy
will now never be.

I span and eve span

Response to Mary Gilmore

“I span and eve span
a thread to bind the heart of man…
as here he loitered and there he stayed…
a root of loss and hidden dismay…
the flame of an hour when he was moved…”

I span and eve span,
there are no threads to bind the heart of man.
