..but the cat’s out, and though I know she’d be ok, I can’t sleep if she’s out. It’s not that I’m worried about her, I’m just used to sensing her presence in the bed. That probably sounds as bad as my crazy bed/window/astronaut fear. It’s totally irrational/illogical, but impossible to ditch. (Duck: if you laugh any louder, I’ll be able to hear you from here..)

Well, I think missing the presence of the cat is quite normal, it’s just amusing when someone else phrases it coyly.
