we’re manic and short tempered, but we’ve worked it all out. see ang.d-x for details, but, seeing as i had stuff to do all day, he set up the front room, did the groceries,
AND…..
even bought me Tim Tams. oh baby..
other than that, i’ve been researching bipolar disorder.. its character research for the stage production.. one of the other characters is supposedly bipolar, and if you’re going to touch on an issue like that, you have to represent it correctly.. i know i’m a perfectionist, but hey, you can’t go making false statements when it comes to mental illness.. while bipolar is a mood disorder, possibly hereditary, you still can’t risk getting it wrong..
and the girl that was writing the character, had it wrong.. i previously knew a little about it, having done some psych at uni, and when she went through her character definition on monday, i knew she’d gotten bipolar wrong. the way she’d written it, it sounded more like clinical depression, with a tendency towards anxiety.. she had no mention of the manic or hypomanic episodes.. sigh..
so, little control freak that i can be, i pulled her up on it, and said that i’d bring in some info on wednesday.. i already have 3 mega-texts on psych, but the internet.. its so easy to find, print and take..
moi? lazy? nah.. obsessional, maybe.. i’ll probably take the text books in tomorrow as well..
actually, some of the most interesting stuff i’ve found, is about the correlation between mood disorders and creativity.. hmm..
See if you can track down An Unquiet Mind, by Kay Redfield Jamison, if you haven’t already. It’s a brilliant book.
